Digital Summer Clinic logo

This summer, I will be working as an intern with the Digital Summer Clinic, a program hosted by Eastern Michigan University’s Center for Digital Engagement and Ann Arbor SPARK. This year, out of 682 applications, 48 interns were selected. The program operates somewhat like an advertising agency, where interns are assigned to one of 24 startup companies in the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti region. I’ll be working for Heat2Power, a thermal energy company based in Ann Arbor, MI.

Heat2Power specializes in thermophotovoltaic (TPV) technology. TPVs work similarly to solar panels; however, instead of only converting sunlight to energy, they use heat from thermal batteries. TPVs are more efficient than solar or wind power, as they are not limited by weather conditions, and can utilize heat that is produced in a variety of settings (think deserts or manufacturing plants).

Throughout the summer, my primary goal is to increase the company's visibility. I will be writing, producing, and editing a video highlighting Heat2Power’s strengths. This will feature compelling interviews with the company’s founders, as well as key information for stakeholders. Additionally, I will create social media content for their LinkedIn page and develop a posting schedule that best suits the company's needs. Finally, I will be creating and distributing a media brief to journalists focused on the clean energy sector.

In this position, I will gain valuable experience in digital marketing and technology, including obtaining certifications in Google Ads and Analytics. I’m looking forward to honing my skills and growing in this position, as well as meeting a number of amazing peers and industry professionals!
